Movies and other dalliances

Its movie time girls and boys…

I spent the day working on the Fantasy novel, editing and rewriting scenes to either clarify or add a deeper touch.  Then around 1:30 I stopped and decided to take a break, catch a movie off the Satellite Dish.  See I don’t go to theaters anymore, too many people being disrespectful of either your personal space or everyone’s movie going experience.  I like to watch movies off my 60-inch TV because when I need to go and pee I can pause the flick and do so in my nice personal Fortress of Solitude, my bathroom.  Its clean, the toilet paper is nice and soft, and I don’t have to worry about the guy in the urinal next to me trying to sneak-a-peek.  Also, I can lie down on the couch and watch a movie the way it was meant to be seen, on my back with the remote control on my chest.

So, I know the burning question is ‘Hey R, what movie did you watch?’.  Well, I have been waiting to see Sicario and today was the day I’d been waiting for.  It was 2 hours long and in my opinion a very good movie, one of the best I’ve seen in a while.  It wasn’t some sentimental trip about how we just have to stay the course and we’ll win this war on Drugs.  No, it was brutally honest with some truly great writing and acting.  Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro and Josh Brolin are some of the best actors walking around now, bar none.  Yet it just wasn’t the acting or the writing that made me want to see this movie, it was the fact it left me with a question to think about.

When your ideals are not enough to win what do you do next?

See, in the movie there’s a clear dividing line between the law and the lawless, the right and the wrong.  If you haven’t seen the movie yet I won’t go any farther into it and spoil the flick.  I will say you need to go and see it, experience it.  Also, there are times when the righteous and the good must give way to a darker purpose and let the work of the ones in the shadows take over.  Yes, I live by the rule of law because it gives us order but I’m not foolish to think there are times when the law will not succeed and when it doesn’t only the innocent are the ones who pay the bill.   So call upon the devil I say, sometimes you have to balance the scales with a little blood.

Till tomorrow everyone, have a good and safe night…

Thank for sharing!
